Dream comes true for Amelia

Dance instructors and pupils at a Wellingborough dance school were celebrate this week after one of their classmates was invite to train with the Royal Ballet School of London.

Nine-year-old-Amelia Hawksby, who attends the Kilburn School of Dance in Wellingborough, wowed representatives from the Royal Ballet School throughout her audition and has since been chosen to attend classes on a bi-weekly basis with their particularly trained staff.

Dance teacher Amanda Wilkins said: She has done extremely well.

In the precedent 20 years just five of our pupils have been chosen for the course, which goes to show the level of rivalry she faced to get the place on the course.
These classes are of a very high stage and it is a very extraordinary thing to be chosen.

I’m delighted for her and her dream of becoming a expert ballet dancer is one step closer to reality at present.

Kristen Stewart to play Snow White in new fairytale film?

The Hollywood Reporter also notes that Kristen will be together by Viggo Mortensen as The Huntsman, while Charlize Theron will play the Evil Queen. Both staid actor types – so we can assume this new version will be dark and twisted and not at all Disneyfied. Excellent.

'American Idol' audition: Winthrop teen's Hollywood moment

A 15-year-old singer from Winthrop may be on her way to flattering the next American Idol.
Danielle Pease auditioned for the hit Fox Network talent demonstrate in August in New Jersey and daunted the judges enough to make it to the show's Hollywood rounds.

That means she will be one of about 200 people rival in Hollywood for the 20 slots in the show's semifinals.

The semifinalists are the ones who sing on the demonstrate and before the judges each week, trying to win the coveted American Idol title and a recording agreement.

Pease say she is legally restricted from talking about the show, but she did share some of her thoughts about her "Idol" audition by way of e-mail Friday.

She said there were more than 20,000 people in line, and she ended up being one of 100 public to sing for the jury. Pease said her nerves weren't too bad as she sang Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart."

Steven Tyler said, 'Well, you could use more feeling when you say take it, but you certainly did one thing today.' I of course said 'What?' Pease wrote in her e-mail. He said 'You took a small piece of my heart.' He was so sweet.

Tonight on American Idol, Season 10 starts off among a bang for auditions in New Jersey! And so it’s lastly here. After much expectation it is once again time to make Idol history. Despite last year’s questionable talent pool of judges it looks like Fox is off to a talented start. The judges got off to a busy start when over 125,000 auditioned this season, which is more than any other season of American Idol. Steven Tyler has previously shown us that he is going to bring a lot of enthusiasm and fun to the table. Jennifer Lopez seems to be a lot resembling the ex-American Idol judge Paula Abdul and I believe people are going to love her just the same.

Although we don’t have our out spoken Simon any longer I believe we are going to get just as much amusing and attitude out of our new jury. Many people from all over the world come to these auditions with dreams of making it large. When it comes to American Idol judges say carry it on! When it’s time to open the floodgates, everyone is getting in no matter if they are gifted or not! Wednesday has left us with fun, tears, and laughter already and I am prepared for more! What about the girl from Kosovo whose family came to America as refugees of war? I believe this girl is going to make it distant in this competition because not only is she talented but America loves her already! Let’s talk about 16 year old Victoria who gave a strong performance during her audition singing Midnight Train to Georgia, which was way before her time (She nail it)! I think she is going to be the one to hit in this competition and Randy Jackson said that she had the biggest personality he has seen on the show so far. There were numerous great contestants tonight and I know we have many more to see before we can start to vote so America, let’s acquire ready to Idol!

FLORENCE, Ky. (AP) - The look for for the next "Survivor" is coming to northern Kentucky.

WKYT-TV reports the CBS illustrate is holding an open casting call for the next "Survivor" season at Turfway Park in Florence. The audition is Jan. 28 from 4-9 p.m.

The station reports that participants will have one minute on camera to induce producers they can outwit, outplay and outlast other contestants to become the subsequently winner of the show.

The first batch of Live and Unsigned 2011 auditions took place very last weekend in Basildon, Cardiff and Dewsbury, with over 900 acts battle it out for a place in the regional final showcase.

The ‘Never Let Me Go’ star said that getting nude for a role is not a huge deal because everyone on set is often respectful and she always discusses what she is contented with beforehand.

It’s a consensual thing. You say what you’re contented with and everybody’s incredibly respectful, Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

However, the 25-year-old actress was not so contented with auditioning as a child because she believed everyone thought she was “s**t”.

Some kids did karate, I went to auditions. They were mortifying. You walk in a room and they clearly think you’re s**t.

Brooke Vincent is 'chuffed' that cousin Ellie-Louise Leach is joining Coronation Street

Coronation Street’ star Brooke Vincent is “chuffed to bits” after her cousin landed a position in the hit ITV1 soap.

Ellie-Louise Leach, nine, will join the cast as a foster girl in the Windass family after impressing demonstrate bosses in auditions.

Brooke – who has played Sophie Webster on the show for six years – is overjoyed for her relative and can’t wait to lend a plateful hand on set.

She said: I am chuffed to bits for her. She has made me so pleased.

We are all thrilled about it and I can’t wait to be with her on set to show her approximately.

Apart from Ellie-Louise’s family connection to the show, soap bosses are convinced the young actress will fit right in on set.

A source on the Manchester-based programmed said: Brooke was behind her all the way and was praying she would get the part - and following Ellie won the bosses over she couldn't contain herself.

She was so satisfied and happy for her. Ellie-Louise is made of the similar stuff as Brooke, which means she'll fit in and get on well with everyone.

Scots dance teacher is spared jail over relationship with boy

A Scots ballet teacher who flouted a police order not to continue her inapt relationship with a talented and vulnerable 15-year-old boy dancer has been handed a poised jail term.

Sarah Pirie, 27, committed a serious breach of faith when they met and she gave him a lift in her car a week after she was banned from any contact.

She was also accused of having sex with the boy but prosecutors determined in November to offer no evidence on those allegations.

Her victim, Reece Washing-ton, who waived his obscurity, claimed in a newspaper article that they had sex on the back seat of her car.

Sentencing her yesterday at Preston Crown Court, Judge Michael Byrne accepted there was no sexual activity between the pair – who met at Clifton Dance Academy in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire – but told her she went past the boundaries of your service.

Pirie, who is initially from Dundee but now lives in Luxembourg, was jailed for 35 weeks, suspended for two years, after she admitted a accuse of child abduction, and was also given a two-year supervision order.

Bethany has the F-Factor

SINGER Bethany Dimmock is counting on the people of Brighouse to assist her win the Forget Me Not Factor.

The Brighouse High School student is set to showcase her ability and support a worthwhile cause when she appears in the final of the talent contest on January 15 being organized by West Yorkshire Forget-Me-Not Trust.

Bethany will perform ‘Make you feel my love’ by Adele in front of a panel of judges who will give feedback on every performance. But it will then be the audience at the Batley Variety Club who decides the largely winner.

Bethany said she didn’t know how she was going to do in the rivalry. I know one of the other acts but I am not confident who else has got through or what the competition is like, she said. I love singing and it would mean a lot to win it. I just hope I can amuse them and if they like me they should vote for me.

The 16-year-old will compete against 11 other people who were all selected following the auditions which were held in Huddersfield, Halifax and Dewsbury.

Bethany said: My audition at North Bridge Leisure Centre went OK. I was shaking. I was actually scared but my family went with me and they will be supporting me at the closing too.

The comments I got seemed to be excellent ones. The vocal coach, Sarah, kept me behind and went through the song with me which was ‘One’ by U2. I then sung it again and they said I was extraordinary which is nice.

The youngster found out about the contest because she used to work at the trust’s charity shop in Commercial Street, Brighouse.

Los Salseros de Stanford spice up Stanford community

It’s a usual Wednesday night at the Axe and Palm. Students sit in red leather booths eating, chatting and studying. But something about the scene is diverse.

In the main room that would usually house more students, salsa music blasts. An eclectic group of Stanford students and Palo Alto locals dance in pairs as two knowledgeable students repeat the counts: “1, 2, 3, turn…5, 6, 7.” Those new to salsa laugh self-deprecatingly as their arms and feet wind awkwardly while the instructors give words of advice and back-up in one of the weekly salsa lessons sponsored by Los Salseros de Stanford, Stanford’s only salsa-performing team.

Directed by Ariana Borgaily ’12 and Diogenes Brito ’11, Los Salseros performs at cultural variety fairs, campus fundraisers, such as Salsa for the Cure, and other dance events, and it puts on an annual spring demonstrate. The club of 18 women and 16 men rehearses for two hours twice a week in Roble Gym. Los Salseros also holds free weekly novice and intermediate lessons for students and local residents, as well as free biweekly salsa socials, where anyone can come for a salsa lesson and then a salsa dance gathering.

For the two directors, being in Los Salseros and dancing salsa in common has been gratifying. Brito, who is half Dominican and half Colombian, grew up listening to salsa music and, with an attention in the music and in joining a dance group on campus, decided to audition. Borgaily, on the other hand, grew up approximately quite a bit of dancing in El Paso, Texas; she started salsa at 13 years old and saw Los Salseros in the Dance Expo show during Admit Weekend. Both directors have been mixed up with Los Salseros since freshman year, and both are in their second year as club directors.

Auditions for Billy Elliot production

Young dancers had better get their dancing shoes on if they’re appealing in being the next Billy Elliot.

The story of an aspiring youthful dancer trying to follow his passions in the macho and bitter world of miners’ strikes is being recreated at The Orchard theatre, Dartford.

Liz Burville is producing a Kentish version of the hit Musical Billy Elliot and will clutch auditions at The Orchard on January 23.

Burville, from Southfleet, will be using her production company In The Wings Productions to place on the performance – A Kent-based company set up in 1998 with credits counting Annie at The Stag, Sevenoaks, and Oliver! at Dartford’s Mick Jagger Centre. The show is due to be directed by Phil Snowden, from Wilmington, who has been performing in the West End Production of Billy Elliot ever since it opened in 2005.

A classic tale of passion winning over the odds, the alongside the odds, Billy Elliot is set in the North East of England next to the background of the 1984/85 miners’ strike.

Being performed in Kent, it will stir the county’s individual memories of the bitter struggle – Kent miners’ smack lasted for a year, often making front-page news.
